Trend Alert: Neon is the New Skinny Jean

I get it. In fact, we all get it. The eighties are back, they’ve been back, and apparently they’re staying back for another season. After an influx of everything ’80s from skinny jeans to ankle boots, I didn’t think it was possible to be bombarded by any more ’80s trends. Apparently, I was wrong. Neon has made a brave comeback, but this time the brights are more nuanced.

From socks to leg warmers and even bikinis, full-spectrum hues are back. Wear these colors as accent pieces, like on a belt, bag or a pair of sandals for the best effect. American Apparel comes through with some super hot cotton spandex hot shorts for those who only dare to sport the look in private.

Disclaimer: handle with care. In the wrong hands this look has the potential to resemble a Jazzercise video circa 1985. Hot pink spandex head-to-toe is not the look we are aiming for, as some trends should never make it back onto the runway. NEVER.
