Trend Alert: Octopus Pendants
July 10, 2007
I’d like to be… under the sea… in an octopus’s garden…
Or maybe I’d rather just wear one of these really whimsical, nautically inspired octopus pendants. They’re popping up all over the fashion blogosphere and we have some strange attachment to the silver and gold sea creature creations.
One of the most popular styles is this shiny silver number from Fred Flare ($24) on an 18-inch chain. Aww, what a cute octopod and at a price that’s easy to love, too. For something a bit more couture head to Couture Candy for this Octopus Necklace from Femme Metale Jewelry for $144.
If you are looking for something that doesn’t scream, “Hey, I’m wearing an octopus!” you might want to consider this slightly modern take on the silver cephalopod by Jules Smith Designs. For $295 this Ursula’s Garden Necklace isn’t an inexpensive trend to try, but thanks to the elegant styling it’s a bit more timeless than its cheaper counterparts.
Finally, for a happy medium that balances size, structure and price you might want to check out this little golden six-legged Sheila Fajl Mini Pendant Necklace. Hey, just because it’s short a few legs, it’s no less lovable than the others. Get it for $58 at Nordstrom.
