Trend Alert: Plaid Shorts -- Hot or Not?

Where: One reader mentioned seeing plaid shorts all over the mall, and I’ll admit to buying myself a pair over Memorial Day weekend from Guess. It’s no doubt that these new breed of summer must-haves have gone beyond the green and are taking over our towns and cities.

Why: They’re cuter than denim, more refined than cargo shorts and add a touch of preppy appeal to a casual summer ensemble. The only issue with plaid shorts is the length. I spotted one gal parading around with shorts so short that, well…you can use your imagination because I can’t go through the trauma of explaining it.

The point is: buy a pair that covers your assets and make sure your shirt is short enough to still see them, lest you look like you’re running around without pants. Don’t have the greatest gams, or just not into anything shorter than mid-thigh? No problem. The plaid trend doesn’t stop with shorts that ride up to show your nickers. Bermuda shorts and shorts that hit mid-thigh are much more flattering and mature, not to mention more comfortable.

Your Thoughts? Is this just a trend for teeny-boppers or would you actually wear plaid shorts? Leave a comment and tell us what you think.
