Trend Alert: What's Up With These Groupie T-Shirts?
July 18, 2007
You may have noticed that there are these crazy, punk “Groupie Tees” sweeping the fashion scene. They’re ostentatiously bright and jarring with big slogans on them like “Do me daily, Christopher Baily,” and “I’m hooked on you.”
The originals from House of Holland will run you about $75, but spin-offs like the one from Forever21 (above right) will cost you a mere $12. Even Urban Outfitters has their own version, the “This is why I’m hot,” tee in hot pink and neon yellow that runs for $28.
Either way, I just can’t seem to get on the band wagon with this trend, and I can’t help but wonder where on earth it came from. Oh, wait, from the closet of Nicole Ritchie. Thanks a lot.
Now that my rant is over, what do you think? Would you wear one?
