By now everyone knows that Isaac Mizrahi followed in her footsteps and created cheap chic for Target. Lucky for us this is just the beginning of the growing “masstige” trend for luxe to lighten up on price and lend prestige to discount retailers. It?s become chic to “go downscale.”
We told you about Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld?s winter collection for H&M?s masses and Tara Subkoff’s , gladiator sandals and heels for Easy Spirit.
The latest entry to the cheap chic marketplace is South African designer Marc Bouwer’s line with QVC.
Marc Bouwer is better known for divinely draped couture gowns worn by the likes of Julianne Moore, Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron than cut-priced classics, but the South African designer has decided to bring a little glamour to the masses by launching ?M by Marc Bouwer? with QVC.
The collection will feature a silk/ cashmere Bolero sweater, a silk ruffle dress and a beaded cardigan sweater in a diverse palette ranging from black and white to vivid pinks and blues.
M by Marc Bouwer will be available on QVC beginning February 2005 or www.qvc.com
