Trend Alert: Are you buying the new 'Skinny Chic' style?

Can it be? Is our boho moment behind us? If Kate Moss — boho babe Sienna Miller’s original inspiration is any indication, it’s time to pack up those prairie skirts and embroidered tops. The next big thing from across the pond is skank/skinny chic, as exemplified by Miss Miller. Think dirty — really dirty — hair, super-skinny jeans, and going shirtless beneath a blazer. And horizontal black and white stripes. And the no bra faux pas. Sound too scary for anyone over 30 (or over 116 lbs)? It might be. Get the edge but keep your wits about you (unlike the above-mentioned starlets) with these tips:

  • Want to wear super slim jeansicon but lack a boyish figure? Tuck them into flat calf lengthiconboot to look more pleasingly proportioned.

  • Keep your denim/trouser palette deep and dark — black is is always en vogue after all — plus it also has a slimming effect (duh!).

  • Uncoordinated accessories. Pick a few pieces that look a bit hastily chosen and leave it at that. Like this Bangle Set with multiple necklacesicon

  • Skip the shampoo every other day. Washing your hair daily is a hazzard anyway, you strip your locks of protective natural oils.

Sienna Miller and Kate Moss are the trendsetters du jour (according to, not necessarily a healthy thing for fashion) Check out her shoes—grab some strappy heelsicon and a pair of tapered jeans.

But I’d skip going braless if I were you, unless you enjoy the scratch of nipples on fabric while the paparazzi’s bulbs flash.
