Animal lovers, this one is for you. Ludivine, a two-year-old hound dog, ran a half-marathon in Elkmont, Alabama and finished in seventh place. The best part? She had no idea she was running the race.
Ludivine’s owner, April Hamlin, had let her outside to roam around like she normally does, but she had other plans. “All I did was open the door, and she ran the race on her own accord,” Hamlin told Runner’s World. Ludivine stumbled upon the inaugural Trackless Train Trek Half Marathon.
She finished the 13.1-mile race with an unofficial time of 1:32:56, landing her in seventh place! “She’s laid back and friendly, so I can’t believe she ran the whole half marathon because she’s actually really lazy,” Hamlin said.
Hamlin is so happy that Ludivine ran the race because she’s bringing attention to it in a bigger way than just being adorable. “It’s the first half marathon in Elkmont, and the people who started it are parents of the kids who run cross country,” Hamlin said. “They wanted to try and fundraise because our school system doesn’t have a ton of money for cross country. Because of this dog, they are getting so much publicity, and I think that’s the best part.”
Good job, Ludivine! Maybe next year she will beat her time.
