Major face palm: In what has to be the brand’s dozenth controversy of the year, Urban Outfitters, purveyor of all things pseudo-hipster, has just stocked some offensively awful shirts just in time for teens to go back-to-school shopping. With slogans like “Misery Loves Alcohol” and “I Drink You’re Cute,” the shirts are not only a waste of perfectly good cotton but also a display of poor sartorial taste .After all, who would want to advertise that they’re miserable? Or that they need alcohol to fix that? Ugh.
According to the Daily News, the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers groups is decidedly pissed off about the shirt because they believe promotes underage drinking. While we’re certainly not a fan of the alcohol-glorifying tees, we’re more upset that UO, who often knocks off top designer trends, thinks cheesy slogan tees are actually still a thing. Even worse, the “reviews” section reveals that the “I Vote For Vodka” tee was backordered for some time — underage or not, they’re a poor excuse for fashion.
