Victoria's Secret's 'Perfect Body' Ad Is Getting Major Backlash

Victoria’s Secret just launched a campaign for its new Body bra style and is now facing major backlash. The ads feature models like Behati Prinsloo, Lily Aldridge and Jasmine Tookes showing off the designs with their perfectly toned abs, thigh gaps and blindingly bright white teeth. But that’s not the problem. The phrase “The Perfect Body” is sprawled in huge letters across the models’ thin stomachs. Not cool.

Now, three British students are demanding the lingerie brand take responsibility for promoting this unhealthy body image. They started a petition calling for VS to “apologise for, and amend the irresponsible marketing of your new bra range ‘Body’.” It has over 8,000 signatures as of Thursday morning.

But that’s not the only backlash the campaign is receiving. The hashtag #iamperfect is trending on Twitter thanks to People Magazine and London-based newspaper The Independent. Here are some tweets:

UPDATE: It looks like Victoria’s Secret is taking these complaints seriously. The brand just altered its ads which now say “A Body For Every Body.”
