Well the gals over at Byrdie recently blogged about Dr. Andrew Weil’s popular 4-7-8 sleep method in which you breathe in through your nose for four seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds and then exhale through your mouth for eight seconds. The science behind the technique is that extending your breath slows your heart rate and increases oxygen flow into your bloodstream. What that means when you’re trying to fall asleep? You relax faster and therefore drift off easier and sooner.
