Was Jimmy Choo's New 'Malika' Sandal Built With An Erector Set?

As a baby of 80s, I couldn’t take my Magic Dance Barbie for a spin around the rec room without tripping over my brothers’ erector set. Maybe I was scarred by that experience (those metal pieces hurt like a bitch!) because the second I spotted Jimmy Choo’s new ‘Malika’ sandal (which is now available for pre-order on Nordstrom) I immediately thought of those model sets. Christian Louboutin’s micro-chip pump already appeals to the modern day geek, and now there’s a designer shoe that pays homage to nerds of yesteryear. Who could forget the scene in The Sandlot where the gang tries to retrieve their lost ball using an erector set? The perforated metallic leather sandals brought me right back to the days of cabbage patch dolls and tube socks — although it’s not advisable to wear the latter with these stylish sandals. Maybe I’ll stick to Jimmy Choo’s Lisa Frank-inspired line instead.
