We Don't Know Why, But Cameron Diaz Is Designing Her First-Ever Shoe Line
February 3, 2014
Sarah Jessica Parker doing a shoe line makes sense. Cameron Diaz? Not so much. The actress some how became the artistic director for Pour La Victoire last summer, and now she’s helping to design the latest shoe collection. She tells WWD that when she first came to PLV, “It was a little bit all over the place.” So of course the person to help the brand get organized is Cameron Diaz. She plans to make the footwear and handbags more concise, beginning with the Fall 2014 line. The styles so far include open toe booties, cutout details and ankle straps in dark-colored suede and leather. She also suggested lowering the heel height and changing the color combo for some of the shoes. #Revolutionary.
Even though we still don’t really get what qualifies the actress to make shoes, we can’t hate when retailers like Shopbop are raving about the collex. Apparently, the online store plans to buy more PLV for fall thanks to Cameron’s designs. Plus, Cameron isn’t putting her name or face on the brand (besides breaking the news that she’s designing the shoes). She wants women to see themselves in the shoes–not Cameron Diaz. We don’t totally understand this yet, but at least Cameron is (semi) doing this for other people besides herself. Now that’s a rare celeb move if I ever saw one.
