Rhodium For Michelle That Costs A Smidgen Less Than 30K
December 4, 2008
Luxist reports that jeweler Giovanni Bosco released a statement that President-elect Obama intends to purchase a $30,000 ring of his design as a thank you gift for his wife. The ring, a mixture of rare and quite expensive rhodium and encrusted diamonds, is quite an extravagant gift for the mid-price fashion icon. The Obama camp has completely denied the story about the ring and Bosco has completely stopped speaking.
True or not, it’s a nice thought. One would think what she went through during his two-year campaign for the presidency is definitely worth some jewelry. The ring is quite lovely, although $30,000 is ridiculously expensive in this economy. Can we make some more budget-friendly suggestions?
This Ariella Collection Linked Pave Crystal Ring ($58) is a pretty and very cost-effective take on the design.
If you want the rhodium, substitute some crystals for the diamonds with this Swarovski Empire Ring ($150). This Pianegonda Twisty Flat Snake Ring ($195) will get you rhodium and diamond etching for a fraction of the Obama ring.
