Website Review: Boutiques Direct Does The Digging For You

Visiting an amazing boutique in this town (The Big Apple) can at times be somewhat depressing. Although browsing through a fabulous collection of carefully selected frocks, designer denims, and distressed leather hobos is usually an activity I enjoy, my wallet never seems to carry the same amount of enthusiasm (and by enthusiasm, I mean dollars, of course). It is always three hundred bucks for this, and half of the rent check for that. Well, no more.

This neat little site called Boutiques Direct snatches up left over merchandise from boutiques all over the country and sells it online for sixty to 80% off. A recent visit revealed a Betsey Johnson Ruffled Babydoll Dress (was $405, now $102) with a velvet empire waistband and golden floral overlay, a heavy-weight, knit Cap Sleeve Cardigan (was $285, now $72) with rhinestone button closures from Cynthia Steffe, and a beautifully tailored Beth Bowley Wool Tweed Jacket (was $340, now $85) with amazing bell sleeves.

The selection of items is wonderfully eclectic but very hit-or-miss. Sometimes you might not find something that you like in your size, and other times you might not find anything you like at all. But keep going back because you will be guaranteed to discover something to die for (at a price you can actually live with).
