Nice to see you again.
Doesn’t this collage make you want to watch a Cosby Show marathon right now?
The Cosby Sweater, characterized by obnoxiously loud, oversize, ’80s pullovers worn best by TV’s favorite hoagie-eating, Latin-jazz-dancing dad…
has inspired blogs dedicated to the sweaters alone (my favorite being The Cosby Sweater Project), its own Urban Dictionary page. Now, after its decades-long place on the fashion “don’t” list, it’s creeping back into fashion’s collective conscience.
Some burning questions to consider:
With this resurgence of stylish patterned sweaters, will “Ugly Sweater” holiday parties simply become “Sweater parties”? More importantly, why was it called “The Cosby Show” when Bill’s character’s name was Heathcliff Huxtable? And how did I never notice that before?
Anyway: I highly recommend you check out these new stylish patterned sweaters at Shopbop, and if you’re still not sure, here’s how to wear a Cosby sweater:
Layer them over mini skirts and tights, or with colored jeans or high waist trousers with pumps, or even leggings, desert boots and faux fur vests for a new look that doesn’t scream “Theo, you’re grounded!”
