We have seen a lot of interesting fashion trends lately (hello, lampshading!) but the most recent trend popping up everywhere is actually something everyone can get behind. Enter: the shacket.

What is a shacket? It’s pretty much a shirt and jacket hybrid. A shacket is lighter than a denim jacket but heavier than a typical button down. They feature a buttoned front (usually with larger buttons) and buttoned chest pockets.

ASOS even has an entire section of their website dedicated to shackets. Vanessa Spence, design director at ASOS, told The Telegraph, “You can layer it, wear it as a modern alternative to a coat, our longer styles can be worn as dresses, or it can be buttoned up as a shirt.” She continued, “We have increased the Shacket section, adding in different lengths, fabrics and colourations, it’s a great transitional piece. We first noticed increased sales this time last year evolving from the utility trend, it’s a good alternative to a mac or denim jacket.”
