Fall weddings might not be as frequent as spring/summer ones, but they’re twice as hard to dress for: many cocktail dresses are too summer-y, there’s the tights or no tights dilemma, and of course there’s the question of cover-ups (no, a cardigan won’t do). On BRIDEfinds, we’re used to fielding the fashion queries of brides — but know that guests need guidance, too.

A few tips:
-Stockings or tights trump bare legs in any occasion: it’s better to be modest and warm, then cold and under-dressed.
-For semi-formal, formal and black tie weddings, cardigans aren’t dressy enough. Opt for a cashmere wrap or fur bolero.
–Just say no to: summer dresses, cleavage, flip-flops, blazers, white (!), flat sandals, fake tanner and anything you would wear in July.
–Just say yes:
