Beyonce‘s Super Bowl performance tonight had the interwebs buzzing about her fierce moves, powerful singing (no lip-synching here!) and, especially, her uber-hot leather-and-lace bodysuit. The ensemble was designed by Rubin Singer, a young, relatively new designer who has quickly become a favorite for celebrities and bold-faced names. Beyonce first met Singer 6 years ago through her stylist, and has since worked with her for a 4th of July performance gown and a New Year’s Eve embroidered bodysuit. To help you get better acquainted with Singer, we’ve compiled the important facts below.

Name: Rubin Singer

Age: 34

Nationality: American

Training: Started as Associate Designer at Oscar de la Renta, Head Designer of three Bill Blass licensees, and later the Head Designer of Kai Milla

Influences: Opera and history; 80s heavy-hitters like Azzedine Alaïa and Claude Montana

Debut Collection: Fall/Winter 2007

Client List: Beyonce (clearly), Heidi Klum, Lucy Liu and Alicia Keys

Fun Fact: He’s a third-generation designer: his father designed costumes for the Bolshoi Ballet and his grandfather was a celebrated designer in the Soviet Union, dressing Russian royalty and social elite.
