Presented by New York Collective for the Arts comes this year’s anOTHER T.SHIRT COMPETITION. The result of a worldwide t-shirt design competition, 10 intriguing, high-art tees are on temporary display in a NoLita space now through September 24th. Each t-shirt is also for sale as a highly limited edition for $50. Judged by the likes of Tokion Magazine’s Creative Director, Adam Glickman, and Nom de Guerre’s Co-Founder, Issa Salabi, to name just two, each t-shirt is has a genius attention to detail and larger message that your average, ironic ITHACA IS GORGEOUS t-shirt never quite will. Highlights from the collection were Lauren Adolfsen’s “Snack Jersey” (2005), featuring a hilarious, whimsical cartoon veggie-laden tee inspired by childhood trips to Disney World; and, Tillmann Steffen Wendelstein’s “Panda” (2005), a t-shirt that seems as though three unidentifiable black blobs are on the shoulder of the shirt. When it’s worn, however, the designs come to 3-D life, outlining a panda’s face. Be intrigued, and enjoy these shirts. You truly won’t find them anywhere else in the world.
