Would You Put Snail Mucus On Your Face If French Doctors Told You To?

We’ve gotten some bad beauty advice before, but nothing compares to this: the French are now pushing snail mucus as the next beauty cure. Oui.

French snail farmer Louis-Marie Guedon claims that the mucus or slime secreted by snails contains “collagen, glycolic acid, antibiotics and other compounds that regenerate skin cells and heal cuts,” Reuters reports. He’s been busy harvesting the stuff for years, and now claims to have 3 clients in the cosmetics industry – including a Paris company – that want to lab test and eventually manufacture beauty products containing this new secret ingredient. Guedon says they’ve ordered 3 tons of it already. #yikes
