Food babies happen to the best of us. And luckily, we’re not celebrities, or else we’d land on US‘s “Baby Bump Watch” list every time we ate a hamburger. But alas, we are mere mortals, and can pack on a few extra pounds from all those summer barbecues, while still looking stylish. That is, if we embrace the box-y shift dress trend. Not only for hiding unwanted rolls, bulges, etc. the shift dress is a classic mod dress style, and this season it comes in a range of bright, bold colors.

Pair them with sandals or ballet flats for the weekend, pumps for work, and wedge sandals for nights out. This is the best transitional dress to take you from the office to appointments to happy hour. If you choose a solid color (Vince makes a killer hot pink number), add a chunky necklace or statement earrings to give it some flair. If you choose a print or something bright, tone it down with simple jewelry and nude shoes. Either way, your mid-section is covered.

Go Ahead, Have Dessert!

Don’t forget to indulge in other shopping guides such as last minute dressed for under $200, flat sandals, and printed bikinis.
