Move over, plaid — it’s time to upgrade to the chic world of big and bold checkerboard prints. We’ve been seeing a lot of  black-and-white prints as we head into spring, and though this trend isn’t strictly monochromatic, the impact is best made with highly contrasting shades. Stylish celebs like Jessica Alba, Kerry Washington and Kirsten Dunst are all over the look, and have recently been spotted in exaggerated versions of Louis Vuitton‘s signature damier pattern, which were debuted at the brand’s Spring 2013 show. House of Holland also showed off a few checks of its own, and tossed edgy metallic motorcycle jackets on top. If you’re up for another take on spring’s mod trend, check out the slideshow below to take checks for a test drive.
