You'll Be Spending Summer In Banana Republic's 'Hamptons-Chic' Milly Collection

When Banana Republic needed a partner for an “aspirational” and “happy” 2013 summer collection, they looked no further than Milly by Michelle Smith, who is known for her colorful design aesthetic and breezy occasion dresses. As Simon Kneen, BR’s creative director and executive vice president of design, told WWD:

We were looking for something very summery, inspired by the Hamptons summer feeling of great homes and beautiful beaches. The easy, breezy style of Milly and her Hamptons-chic style is a new take on aspirational summer dressing for our consumers.

The resulting 60-piece Banana Republic Milly Collection includes Milly’s first forray in to men’s wear, as well as 6 updated Milly prints and others exclusively designed for the collaboration. “It’s a very positive, happy collection. The colors and patterns capture the modern spirit of summer,” Kneen said. The collection is affordable, too, ranging from $45-$175 for women’s clothing and accessories. The collection drops in May, but stay tuned for more photos and details on the line leading up.

Shop Milly dresses in the meantime. Then get the latest news on the Banana Republic x Mad Men collection (hitting stores March 1), Milly x Sperry, and the 12 collabs of 2012 that didn’t live up to the hype.
