It’s that time of the year again! You’re kicking up the workout routine a notch for that bikini bod and just started browsing some swimsuit options for the upcoming beach season. Lucky for you, there’s a slew of new names getting into the bathing suit biz and our favorite retailers are stocking up on our favorite styles. Read on for our breakdown on swimwear for 2012—from new swimwear lines to this summer’s must-haves and wear to buy them—plus check out our slideshow on how this season’s top trends translate into poolside wares.

GO RETRO

Retro-style swimsuits not only accentuate a woman with curves, but it’s pretty much flattering on any body type—adding voluptuousness where it’s needed. Thankfully, Anthropologie is fully stocked with this wondrous swimsuit style.

SHOP RAG & BONE

The All-American designer line Rag & Bone branches out beyond ready-to-wear and denim and puts their aesthetic touch to bikinis. We love the duo’s colorblock patterned and geometric printed two-pieces, which are simple enough for lazy beach days and a round of paddle ball at the shore.

GET LOUD WITH MARA & MADEWELL

One of our favorite retailers Madewell tapped New York designer Mara Hoffman for her psychedelic prints swimmingly transformed into super cool styles. Loads of colors and patterns make you easy to spot in a crowd of suntanning beach bums.

GIVE KATE A TRY

For launching her career as the cover model for Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue (and teaching the Clippers how to dougie), Kate Upton has had her fair share of bikinis. So creating a capsule collection for the swimwear line Beach Bunny only seemed right. If you’re looking for feminine-style two-pieces with a touch of bling, then these summer swimsuits are for you.

HEAD TO MIAMI

Two major retailers have joined forces offering you a complete summer wardrobe. Target teams up with Miami’s high-end, fashion forward boutique The Webster with a collection of swimsuits in beach-inspired prints, as well as maxi dresses, jackets, accessories, and more to go with them—all at budget-friendly prices.
