OMG, Call in the Troops: Hillary Has Cleavage!

image

Robin Ghivan of the Washington Post wrote a piece about a startling discovery on CSPAN…Hillary Clinton has breasts. We knew you had no idea, but we just had to share the news.

In fact, all of Washington is up in a stink about the fact that she chose to wear a slightly low V-neck top while presenting a speech about higher eduction to the Senate. Don't we have more things to worry about than the fact that she *oops* let a little bit of cleavage show?

Giada de Laurentiis, host on a variety of Food Network shows, has been criticized for combining cleavage with cooking, but we think there's a world of difference between a presidential candidate who let's her neck breathe for the first time in a decade and a mere TV host/chef that purposefully leans over in front of the cameras so you can get a good look at her cleavage.

Cleavage doesn't belong at the office. Period. But, since it's your brains that matter, not your breasts, why should we care about showing it or not? We're all for wearing a pretty camisole like this DKNY Elite Boutique Lace Trim Camisole under your suit that keeps you modest but still has a touch of femininity. It's not like Clinton is a filthy little sexpot or like she was wearing some skanky halter and mini skirt. No, she was wearing a professionally tailored suit. We say wear that push-up bra! More power to you! She did it with poise, grace and charm. What could possibly be so wrong with that?

What do you think? Would you lose respect for wearing a push-up bra and low-cut shirt to work? Do you think covering up in a conservative turtleneck mean you're a stodgy business woman? And tell us, honestly, have you ever let your cleavage show? Leave us a comment below.

Bath Find: Melt Away Your Stress

Ylang Ylang Milk BathWhat: Akhassa Rituals Ylang Ylang Milk Bath

Why: This delightful bath treat is just what the doctor ordered after a long day at the office, on the trails, in a plane or at the in-laws (yes, it's that good). Just a few scoops in a hot bath and you have a recipe for stress-free relaxtion with a heavenly scent of ylang ylang and geranium.

Created after ancient Indonesian rituals, this concoction of hydrating essential oils and milk salts is meant to preserve youth and beauty. I'm not sure if it took away my crow's feet, but it definitely whisked away from my city life for awhile. Plus, upon stepping out of the tub my skin felt soft, smooth and nourished.

It's a true treat for yourself, but it would also make an exceptional gift for the over-stressed person in your life.

SheFinds Asks You: Are You Afraid to Catch Fat?

imageThe Independent recently released findings on why thin people react in disgust to overweight people. It appears that “highly evolved immune systems” perceive that obesity is prone to pathological disease. Evidently, they’re afraid to “catch fat,” preferring to emulate celebrities like Nicole Richie.

As an average-sized woman (size 10/12) working in fashion, I can report that The Devil definitely wears Prada and it doesn’t particularly like those who can’t fit into it. I attend events all the time where people physically recoil in horror away from me. Last weekend, some girl shoved past me in a crowded room with a “Move, you big bitch." She’s lucky she was fast before I threw my average-sized shoe (size 8.5) into her ass.

Unfortunately, there are too many people at these parties like her and I really do like my shoes. It’s a misunderstanding that you have to be tiny and malnourished to look and feel good about yourself. Nordstrom carries cute Michael Korsicon and Ralph Laurenicon at a variety of sizes. Even Target has great lines (Isaac Mizrahi and the Go International collections) that roll up into “plus” sizes.

Malnourished on the runway may be one thing, but you don’t have to be hungry to be hot.

SheFinds asks you: what’s your opinion? Is this evolved or disgraceful? Are you afraid to catch fat or do you have to be truly sick to think this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

SheFinds Preview: Jessica Simpson Does Swimwear & Everything Else

imageimageimage

Add bathing suit collection to the ever-expanding list of Jessica Simpson fashion endeavors. Her big foray into design has been somewhat rocky at times. After the edible cosmetics brand, Dessert, was sued for supposedly stealing ideas, she ran into more trouble when she failed to properly promote her ‘Princy’ denim line – I guess the clothes were so ugly even she didn’t want to wear them, telling the press her favorite jeans were True Religion instead.

But ever since her days as a newly wed, Simpson has seen how women everywhere want to emulate her style and has since decided that we all (fans or not) need to experience her own personal fashion vision. Now we have handbags, shoes (which pains me to say actually aren’t half bad), hair extensions, cell phone cases and now swimsuits, which she premiered at the 2007 Miami Swim Fashion Week.

The collection is a mix of a few cute pieces (including an interesting Missoni-esque one-piece) accessorized with some really bad hats, and then other ridiculous ruffley things that look fit for six year olds; I don’t know maybe it’s a Texas thing. See the whole line for yourself that Jess worked really hard on, (yeah right, she just picked the models), in this YouTube video. Oh, and she also has a signature fragrance coming out next summer…

Here are a few worth while Jess Simpson picks we found (that we'd actually wear) and, of course, in the spirit of Ms. Simpson herself, a few pairs of her favorite jeans.

Stain Solutions: How to Clean Leather

imageCleaning leather—much less lifting stains from it—can be a tricky business. Should you stain your leather, whether it be a fancy Prada purse, your retro leather pants or your beloved Manolos, you may be in trouble, however, here are a few need-to-know tips for when tossing out your clothes and acessories is not an option.

* Always spot test! Leather has a tendency to discolor and stain even worse when treated improperly. When in doubt — take your goods to a pro who can dry clean your leather products safely.

For Treated Leather: Lather up a little bit of moisturizing soap (like Dove) and water on a washcloth. Rub, wipe away the suds with a damp cloth, then buff to finish with another dry towel, preferably a microfiber one.

For Untreated Leather: For most types of leather-cleaning, there is clearly one solution: Murphy's Oil Soap. Used by saddlers and fancy handbag-wielders alike, its gentle formula does a fabulous job of cleaning and conditioning your leather without affecting its tan. And, it works beautifully on wooden floors to boot.

For more fabulous tips on how to clean leather (like using rubbing alcohol on ink marks), check out this great guide from The Queen of Clean at DIY. And you might also be interested in our posts on How to Care for Your Handbags, Cleaning Patent Leather and our new Laundry Solutions guide.

A Great New Sunless Tanner — The Difference is in the Gel

imageWhat: Hampton Sunless Tanning Gel

Why: Usually I go tanning three or four times before meeting my friends at the Jersey Shore for our annual July reunion. My friends, after all, are mostly of Italian and Persian descent and — unlike my English skin — have no trouble getting a deep, brown tan that lasts the entirety of summer. But this year was different. This year, the week prior to said reunion I began using Hampton's sunless tanning gel.

The gel, which the company touts as a product for "quality-minded individuals who enjoy the sun but not the burn," makes for a veritable stress-free application process, since is goes on just like any other body lotion. This facet of a sunless tanner was important to me, having experienced the mortifying orange line of sunless foam and the strange looking Michael Jackson hands that can appear after using protective gloves in a spray-tanning booth. Plus, the gel is hypoallergenic and contains rich moisturizers, so it was an easy substitute for my morning Jergens.

Within three uses I achieved a natural, even looking tan, without a single trip to the tanning booth. Plus, and dare I say it, my fake tan looked even better than my friends' real ones — because mine didn't come with wrinkles. Maybe next year we'll have to move our reunion to the Hamptons.

Price: $32

Eco Find: Earth Friendly Fashion from Signorelli

image

What: OmniPeace Tees

Why: OmniPeace embodies the concept of fashion with a mission, pursuing the honorable goal of ending extreme poverty worldwide by 2025. Among the avid supporters of the cause are Courteney Cox (who recently hosted the OmniPeace launch party) and husband David Arquette, as well as the unlikely pair of Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Anniston.

Jolie has become a great supporter for the cause, and has visited the first Millenium Promise village in Sauri, Kenya. Aniston has been spotted wearing the OmniPeace tank in yellow, an act that can only be described as selfless given her history, and the cause's association with, Jolie. It's positively refreshing to see celebrities uniting for such an important cause in spite of personal differences.

The shirts come in different colors and cuts with the most popular being the Tanks in Black or White as well as the Black Tee. For trendier designs by Signorelli that are popular among celebrities check out the selection at Shopkitson.com.

Good Question: Glow in the Dark Purses

From a SheFinds Reader: I was wondering if you could tell me where I could find the clutch purse with the glow in the dark light inside that was shown on the Tyra Banks show on September 14. If you could provide me with information, that would be great.

The Answer: As Kara Kurcz sat in darkened club one night, she realized she couldn't see to find anything in her purse. So she and Brian Lee created Solas Fashions, a company "dedicated to solving life's little annoyances and adding tranquility to the urban lifestyle," and a hit clutch that makes me wonder, "Why didn't I think of that?" They patented their lighting system, which is featured in all of their handbags like the Healing Clutch, fancied by Cameron Diaz, and large and mini Chakras.
