Deal Of The Day: Up To 50% Off Milly Dresses At Tobi

You never know when the phone will ring and that last-minute dinner date invitation will come through. It's bound to happen, though, so you've gotta be prepared. Stock up on cute dresses from Milly that you can whip out of your closet faster than you can send that text message accepting the invite.

image
Channel a vampy, grown-up Minnie Mouse in this pretty polka-dot party dress ($211, was $324). The exaggerated mod print and always-in black and white color combo work best with minimal jewelry, but you could introduce color in the form of a bright-hued cardigan or clutch.

image
Go for a Pucci-esque vibe with Milly's Sophia dress ($239, was $341) in funky tangerine and strawberry tones. The print is a little bit '70s retro and a little bit tribal chic; pair with gold bangles to bring out the cream and chocolate details.

image
Slinky, simple and stunning, this Hazel dress ($158, was $315) might just make you rethink your standard comfort clothes (i.e. jeans). Throw the helix-patterned dress on over black tights if you want to go dressier, or partner it with high wooden wedges or ultra-flat sandals for a laid-back boho look.

The Full On Sale at Old Navy—up to 50% off—is almost over!

The Whole Geek Chic Thing Is Back Again – And Glasses Are Now Cool

imageimage

According to the Wall Street Journal, wearing glasses is cool again. Now, if I were one who had to wear them full-time I would be somewhat offended by this latest fad. Last I checked, wasn't visual impairment a disability? So therefore, isn't wearing glasses when you don't need them a tad bit mocking? And if not mocking, perhaps just plain silly? I can't help but anticipate a conversation between friends:

Friend: Oh, I didn't know you wore glasses.

Glasses Wearing Fashion Victim: Oh, I don't. Well, I do. But I don't. It's complicated. I don't want to talk about it.

Friend: Uh. Okay.

Hmm. It is confusing. For all of us. But if the style bug has already bitten and you're eager to partake in the latest trend, here are a few fashions you might want to check out. You can order online with either single lenses or as frames only and bring them to your local LensCrafters where they will fit you will clear lenses (and try not to laugh).

Celebrity Swimwear: Where Can I Find Liz’s Bangin’ Bikini?

image

From a SheFinds reader: Does anyone know where I can get the swimsuit Elizabeth Hurley is wearing here? I love it!

Well, lucky for you, we've been showcasing celeb swimwear all this week. So this is right up our alley…

Answer: Liz Hurley would be happy to hear your positive response—the bikini she's rocking is one of her own design for international clothing retailer Mango (the same spot Penelope Cruz and her sister have a limited edition line with). The suits aren't available stateside quite yet, but when they do hit the online shelves, your favorite rum raisin-colored halter bikini will retail for $40.

The line is generating quite a bit of press, not because of the designs, but because of Liz's comments on her own photo campaign. According to the still-stunning 42-year-old model/actress, bikini shoots are "unmitigated hell" and "literally torture." Poor thing. Lucky for Liz, she's not above a little airbrushing, and says she counts on "nice photographers and a bit of retouching" to survive her grueling (we bet) day job.

imageimage   image
If you can't wait to get your hands on a two-piece like Liz's, look for bust-boosting halter style tops and scoop or low-rise bottoms in shades of deep purple, dark chocolate, or shimmery taupe. May we suggest: Kushcush's chocolate-hued Milla bikini ($158), Fabucci's James Bond bikini ($202), or Gap's bargain-priced Essential halter and low-rise bottoms ($17 each) in either deep brown or eggplant purple.

Have a question for the SheFinds editors? Tell us what you're trying to track down—a special size, the solution to a style conundrum, something your favorite star has sported—and we'll get on the case.

And check out our Swimsuit Guide for more amazing summer suits.

Pretty Lip Balms That Think They’re Glosses Too

ChapStick is great. Cherry ChapStick, better. And when it comes to lip color, I always put a premium on moisture over hue. But why not have the best of both worlds? The balms below each do a great job softening chapped lips, but you'll also get a different lip gloss-like effect from each one, so there's no need to layer. Or carry around two tubes in that tiny clutch.

Shine: I expected Treat Sweet Butter Tinted Lip Balm ($10) to smell sugary and candy-like, but was pleasantly surprised by the more sophisticated rose-petal scent. The balm is moisturizing and super shiny without being sticky.

image

Color: on10's Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream In Good Taste Lip Conditioner ($9) is a sheer berry color that can certainly hold its own against gloss, and did an outstanding job softening lips – just like you'd expect from a full-time balm.

image

Shimmer: NARS Lip Treatment in Sabrina ($24) comes in the same sleek tube as the rest of the company's lipsticks, so even if you're a lipstick-avoidant like me, you can still do the uncap and twist up thing – very old-world glamorous – only what you get is a soothing shimmery pink balm, not a chalky super-pigmented red.

Style Swap: Sayonara, Shoulder Bags. Clutches Take Control

image image

As Heidi Klum tells us, "In fashion, one day you're in, and the next you're out"—we hardly need to remind you, we're sure. This constant fashion evolution has inspired us to focus in on the little updates you can make to keep your look au courant. If we see a trend that has outstayed its welcome, we'll be the first to let you know. And we'll give you our picks for what you should swap your old stuff with to stay in the forefront of fashion.

We've seen shapeless and slouchy shoulder bags taking a back seat to sleek, structured clutches recently. Sure, it's convenient to tuck a tiny shoulder bag into that crook under your armpit and go hands free, but clutches show confidence and make you stand a little taller (shoulders back, ladies!) Get a handle on your loot by picking a large, slim clutch with a cutout for your hand (like Hobo International's school bus yellow patent Katrina $100). Opt for something oversized if you want your new clutch to hold just about as much as your favorite bag with a strap, but also plan on investing in a slimmed-down cell and wallet if you want to rock this chic look to perfection.

image
Maxx New York's ombré clutch ($110) in seaworthy hues of blue is both glossy and glam. This pretty patent clutch can hold more than you think—all your beauty gear, and then some.

image
Lindsay Lohan and Victoria Beckham have both been spotted carrying oversized versions of Dolce & Gabbana's harlequin bags ($875). Downsize a bit (for your wallet's sake, at least) and cop a clutch in the graphic black and ivory snakeskin pattern. You're sure to turn heads when you walk into the bar with this hand candy clutched in your perfectly manicured hands.
image

Expand your horizons with Nine West's Wonton clutch ($35) in so-hot-right-now orange.

Now it's your turn. Tell us what trends you think are getting a bit stale (or were never that hip to begin with) and we'll give you the stylish swaps you can make for an instant upgrade.

And peruse our Guide to Celeb It Bags for more chic arm candy options.

Deal Of The Day: 70% Off Cozy Transition Sweaters At Pink Mascara

Today it's cold. Tomorrow it's supposed to be rainy. And then warm. And then cold again. Spring weather can be as unpredictable as Blair Waldorf's next devious move on Gossip Girl, and a girl's gotta be prepared. Keep one of these timeless sweaters handy at all times—you never know when the weather's going to shift on you (or when you might need to protect yourself from a notoriously chilly frenemy).

image
Indoor scarfs are a topic of much heated fashion debate—are they a do (according to the ladies of American Idol, yes) or a don't? The point is moot when your neck warmer du jour is built right into your wardrobe, as on this neck tie sweater from Jamison ($72.60, was $242). Tie the scarf up to beat a breeze, or leave it loose for a chic, instant accessory.

image
Demylee's cashmere Ava cardigan ($105, was $350) is such a clean, modern update to the classic cotton hoodie. Pull a jeans-and-tee look together with a touch of class, or keep this heather gray knit at your office desk to pair with dark slacks and a bright button-down.

image
Cozy up in this chunky knit Sea sweater from Karoo ($115.50, was $385) and read a good book on a rainy day. A luxurious collar, an ultra-warm cashmere blend, and just-the-right-length sleeves will make this wrap something you'll want to curl up in all year long.

Pretend You’re A Laid-Back Californian In Sanuk Sandals

It just takes a few lines of their About Us section to realize that Sanuk is one of those happy hippie California companies where everyone probably goes to work in flip-flops. Case in point: they forgive tardiness so long as you can be seen surfing outside the office window.

It probably wouldn’t hurt to steal some of their sunny disposition, and lucky for us, they make (surprisingly) stylish, reasonably priced shoes. And what better way to appropriate West Coast laid-back chic than with a cute flip-flop? A cute flip-flop…for under $25, that’s how.

The Avalon Flip-Flop ($23.99) is that all-summer-long sandal – the patent straps are super thin and the foot bed is a neutral chocolate color, so they’ll match whatever you’re wearing. And is there anyone who doesn’t love a bunch of smiley faces on the bottom of her shoe?

image

In sleek silver, the Sydney Sandal ($23.99) can be an airy substitute for ballet flats with skinny jeans or a little black dress.

image

The Serengeti Flip-Flop ($19.99) keeps the zebra-print pattern earthy with contrast stitching and a canvas upper. And it has just enough of a wedge to keep your feet slightly elevated and free from sidewalk muck.

Deal Of The Day: Up To 50% Off Spring Green Gear At Old Navy

How did you celebrate Earth Week? If you didn't get your fill of tree planting, rainforest saving, and green-going last week, show your springtime support for planet friendliness by donning some green attire on the cheap. At Old Navy, kelly, lime, and shamrock shades aren't reserved for St. Patty's Day; they're a celebration of the rebirth and renewal signaled by spring. So go green, wear green, and save green. The Earth (and your wallet) will thank you for it.

image
Springtime means sleeves get shorter—or disappear altogether. But that doesn't have to cancel out the old loungey standby, the hoodie. This cap-sleeved drawstring hoodie ($17, was $25.50) doesn't have much in the way of arm warmers, but its cozy sweater knit makes it an ideal extra layer to toss in your bag for a day-to-night date.

image
Step lively in metallic mint green T-strap sandals ($15, were $19.50) with pearly coin embellishments. Put a sweet citrusy-hued spin on the season's fave footwear look, the gladiator sandal, and you've got these blingy and barely-there thongs.

image
Whether you dress it down by throwing it on over your new swimsuit, or you dress it up by pairing it with a tailored white jacket and heels, this print halter dress ($20, was $34.50) is a springtime closet staple. The whimsical pattern and figure forgiving cut make it a great transition piece while you're burning  off the last of that winter hibernation bulk, and the goes-with-the-flow jersey fabric makes this a dress you'll want to lounge and lunch in.

How To Pull Off Head-To-Toe Black

There’s nothing quite like basic black for creating a classic look – very Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face. And it’s almost always slimming; the body-conscious cut of these Vince Ponte Pants ($210) and Splendid tank ($40) are all the more flattering in black monochrome.

image image

There are a couple of ways to add a pop of color to an all-black outfit without disrupting the sleek line of an all-black ensemble. One, the statement necklace, brings attention up to the face while allowing you to steer the tone of your ensemble. The Quad Strand Necklace (center, $8.80) packs a ton of bright color into smaller beads. Subversive’s Celedon Tropical Treasure Necklace (right, $595) is the quintessential statement piece: artfully constructed, and there’s lots going on. If you love the Subversive line but can't fathom the hefty pricetag, opt for Target's version instead ($50).

  image image image

If you’d rather focus on accessorizing your feet, go for shoes with some substance to add some color and texture to your monochromatic look. Steve Madden’s Tetra Wedges (left, were $79.95, now $59.95) are sophisticated but unexpected in green leather. These snake-print pumps (center, $295) are easy to pull off when your outfit doesn’t compete with the pattern. But if you’re looking to mimic Ms. Hepburn’s demure take and wear flats, J. Crew’s Tortoise Ballet Flats (right, $145) are an elegant option.
