True story: For years, I only wore high boots.
I told myself it was because they were the height of fashion—more accurately, it was because I didn’t know how to style shorter boots. But then I went to college and one of my roommates exclusively wore ankle boots. Watching her style them with everything from baggy jeans to flowy skirts taught me just how versatile they can be. Now, ankle boots are a staple in my closet.
If you’re wondering how this pertains to you, Amazon’s Ruanyu Platform Ankle Boots ($29.99) are currently on sale for 25% off. I am obsessed with them, and you will be too!
Platform ankle boots typically suit a variety of styles—and with 19 different colors/finishes, including a crocodile-embossed pair, the Ruanyu Platform Ankle Boots ($29.99) are especially versatile. I also like these boots because the thick rubber sole gives you a height boost, without the discomfort of a true heel. Couple this with the boot’s elastic, sock-like opening that’s designed for ease, and these shoes might just become your new favorites. With their non-slip soles, they’re great for walking around in inclement weather or while traveling (because they’re so easy to take off/on in those TSA lines).
It is worth noting that some people feel the boots’ elastic opening doesn’t fit quite right. I have narrow feet and often struggle to find shoes that fit me properly, so I actually like the sock-like style. But if in doubt, I’d recommend going up a size.
One person said, “I bought these because the shaft of the boot looks like it’s stretchy and wouldn’t be a challenge getting on. I was wrong; it took me (wearing very thin socks) about a minute each foot to get the pair on.” However, another customer said they were “COMFY” and someone else called them “the most comfortable shoes.” Take the reviews with a grain of salt!
Now on sale for around $30, the Ruanyu Platform Ankle Boots ($29.99) feel like an auto buy to me. But if the question of how to style them is preventing you from clicking “add to cart,” let me help you out. Here are three ways I like to style ankle boots.
- Pair your ankle boots with straight-leg jeans, a chunky knit and statement jewelry. It’s my go-to cold weather uniform.
- Wear them with a midi dress for those days when it’s not too cold but not too hot. Pro tip: If the color of the boots clashes with your dress (i.e. the boots are brown and your dress is black), add a purse that’s the same color as your shoes.
- My absolute favorite way to wear ankle boots is with a mini dress. IMO it’s an easy “going-out” look, and you can rock bare legs if it’s warm enough or add tights in the winter.
That said, these boots are all about self-expression—you’ll look great no matter what!
