Lemon Juice
Lemon juice is a great addition to your favorite tea. Not only does it add flavor to your hot drink, but it also can keep you on track for your weight loss goals. With that in mind, Lisa Richards, nutritionist and author of The Candida Diet, recommends adding lemon juice to tea.
She explains, "[Lemon] can increase thermogenesis, which is the process where the body burns calories to produce heat." If you're hoping to burn more calories, this is the perfect addition to your cup of tea.
Cinnamon
Richards also recommends putting a bit of cinnamon in your tea. She explains, "This ingredient works in two ways--increasing insulin sensitivity and decreasing blood sugar. Both of these side effects of consuming cinnamon will help with weight loss."
Another bonus? Cinnamon, like lemon, will increase thermogenesis.
Cayenne Pepper
Richards knows that this might not be the most traditional tea ingredient, but it's very effective. She explains, "When combined with honey or other naturally sweet additives, it increases the rate of calorie burning."
This increased calorie burn is a result of capsaicin, a compound found in the pepper.
Honey & Ginger
Richards explains these two powerhouse weight loss ingredients. She explains, "These two ingredients are ideal for weight loss, but, when combined, they make a delicious tea that aids in detoxifying the live. When this organ is working efficiently, the body is able to burn more calories."
