American Eagle stood by through those awkward middle school years, teaching us everything we know about the magic of a good pair of jeans, the financial bliss of a store-wide 40% off sale, and the power of casual plaid. While my middle school days may be over, my love for AEO lives on and on. I mean, what other brand can boast that they maintain customer loyalty from age 12 to 22? I don’t know about you, but I don’t keep up with many of my pre-teen pastimes — O.C. inspired craft circle, anyone? Unlike many of the brand’s competitors (*cough* Forever 21, H&M) AE clothes are not only affordable, but well-made and practical. Ugh, we love you more by the minute, American Eagle. American Eagle is everywhere

Despite its name, American Eagle is not exclusive to North America. There are AEO stores all over the globe, as far-reaching as Kuwait, Russia, and Egypt!

Aerie and beyond

In 2006 AEO's off-shoot Aerie hit the scene with its affordable underwear, bra, swim, and sleep collections. Maintaining a body-positive aim and appeal, Aerie has been a massive success in the ten years since its founding.

Awesome celebrity endorsements

AEO is backed by some serious star power. The brand employed Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell for its 2012 Live Your Life Campaign, and Emma Roberts in Aerie's 2015 #AerieREAL anti-airbrush campaign.

AEO vs. A&F: The Saga

Preppy competitor Abercrombie & Fitch has a serious bone to pick with American Eagle — or I guess bones, plural? Since 1999, A&F has sued AEO three times for selling designs deemed too similar to their own. They’ve been overturned every time, but 'A' for effort...?

Selena Gomez loves AEO

Selena Gomez just wants to look good for you, America (uh-uh)! The pop starlet is often spotted out in AE's finest. Back in 2011, she and then boyfriend Justin Bieber hit up an AE store in Woodland Hills, CA, leaving with bags full of brand favorites.
