Alec Baldwin has faced numerous challenges in his personal and professional life over the past few years and is now claiming he’s ready to get back into shape, just as he did a few years ago for a film role.

The actor recently revealed in a new episode of his and his wife Hilaria’s reality television show, The Baldwins, that he’s ready to lose some weight and get back into shape, similar to how he dropped 25-lbs for his role in the 2013 film, Blue Jasmine. The actor gave some insight into the strict diet he followed to lose weight and spoke about how he’s working to take care of himself following the traumatic toll the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins had on him in 2021. Read more about his diet and current wellness habits below.

Alec Baldwin Shares The Strict Diet He Followed To Lose 25 lbs For 'Blue Jasmine'

During a recent episode of The Baldwins, which aired on April 13th, the actor and his wife, yoga instructor Hilaria, sat down to discuss health and fitness, as well as his efforts to get back into shape. While discussing weight loss and exercising, he reflected on the strict diet and exercise regime he followed to lose 25 pounds for his role in the 2013 comedy-drama film Blue Jasmine.

Alec talked about how, before marrying Hilaria in 2012 and having more children, he used to have an easier time working out and losing weight. However, when he turned 40, things began to change, as he felt he no longer had as much time to dedicate to training.

When it came time to lose weight for Blue Jasmine, he reflected on the diet plan he followed to drop 25 pounds at a fairly quick pace.

"I didn't have no pasta, no potatoes, no candy, no sugar, and I lost probably 25 pounds," he revealed on the show.

"You see me in the movie, and I look trim, comparatively speaking."

Many performers and athletes have found that losing weight becomes significantly easier after eliminating sugar and starchy carbohydrates. Still, sometimes, it can be hard to give those things up for long, which is one of the reasons why the 30 Rock actor struggled to keep the weight off in the years following the filming of the Woody Allen film.

Alec And Hilaria Reflect On His Recent Struggles To Stay Healthy

During the episode of their reality series, which has been on air and widely talked about since late February, the couple spoke about how Alec has slowly been working to get back into shape, especially after the horrifying on-set incident that led to his Rust cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins's death and subsequent court case.

"It really, really negatively affected my health, and I wasn't like that," explained the actor.

"No matter what I had, my hip hurt, this hurt. I had energy, and now this sucked a lot of the energy out of me. A year from now, I want to have put a lot of focus on my health and have that be very different."

The 67-year-old and his wife also discussed their dynamic as a couple, with her being a fitness instructor who consistently exercises and him being an actor who has never really enjoyed working out. He told Hilaria it was "bizarre" being married to her at times, given that he's felt like his physical condition has been "slipping" over the years.

"I just want to get healthy," he admitted.

We'll have to wait and see if Alec is able to regain a healthy headspace and physique as he continues his health journey with the support of his family.
