Ariana Grande and the cast of Wicked: For Good, were walking down the yellow carpet at the Singapore premiere of the film when a fan jumped over barricades and charged at Ariana Grande, wrapping an arm around her neck and jumping up and down next to her.
Not only was her security team unable to stop the attacker as he approached, they were also slow to react, and were beat out by Ariana’s costar, Cynthia Erivo, who yanked the attacker off Ariana in an instant. Keep reading for more information.

Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media as fans call out the slow response rate of Ariana’s security team. In the video, the cast walks gracefully down the yellow carpet, dressed in their premiere finery, when a fan storms onto the path and grabs Ariana with an arm around her neck.
Immediately, Cynthia rushes to Ariana’s side, places two hands on the fan’s chest, and shoves him away from her costar. The security team then takes over, leading the fan away, while Cynthia comforts Ariana, who is visibly upset and alarmed. While many fans praised Cynthia for rushing to her friend’s support, most fans were appalled by the lack of urgency from the security team.

And those fans weren’t afraid to call out the security team in the comment section of the many viral videos, with lots of people bringing up the fact that Ariana has PTSD from her 2017 concert, where a terror suicide attack occurred, leaving 22 people dead and over 1,000 others injured.
“Okay but how did Cynthia react faster than the security??” one fan asked.
“Were the body guards even awake?” another asked. “Their reactions were in sleep mode!”
“Cynthia needs a check for being security,” a third fan said.
“Cynthia is a baddie,” another agreed. “She was ready to throw down.”
“Ari needs a new security team,” a final fan said.
