Last week, the Wall Street Journal held its 2025 Innovator Awards in New York City, where numerous stars, business owners, philanthropists, and more stepped out to hear from this year's innovator award recipients. One of the special guests in attendance was Billie, who was given the Music Innovator award for the impact she's made on her industry.
Right before she went on stage to make her acceptance speech, her introducer, Stephen Colbert, announced she had made a $11.5M donation to "support organizations, projects and voices dedicated to food equity, climate justice, reducing carbon pollution and combating the climate crisis."
When she took the stage, the "Bad Guy" singer stepped out in a super chic, New York-esque outfit consisting of various Miu Miu pieces. She had on a dark, navy blue blazer and a matching skirt that went down to her knees. She paired the pieces with a gray sweater and a blue button-down, emulating the outfit as it was on the runway at Paris Fashion Week.

"We're in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark and people need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever, especially in our country," she said, according to People. "I'd say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things, maybe give it to some people that need it. Love you all, but there's a few people in here that have a lot more money than me. If you're a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away, shorties."
Her speech immediately went viral, as people commended her for saying something like that in a room full of extremely powerful people, like the Facebook founder, who allegedly did not join the rest of the crowd in applause after what she said.
