Last weekend, Ryan Reynolds shared a selfie on his Instagram story of him and his wife, Blake Lively, smiling together in New York City. Considering Reynolds rarely posts his wife on his social media pages, some internet sleuths were wondering why all of the sudden he’s looking loved up with Blake.
The reason they’ve uncovered? The post came two days ahead of the release of voice memos that are going to be used in the It Ends With Us lawsuit, and in case it paints Lively in a bad light, the couple wanted some good press ahead of those headlines. Keep reading for more information.
Ryan Reynolds Posts Selfie With Blake Lively
The selfie in question is on a New York street corner and features the pair posing with a spider balloon animal. In the photo, Blake is wearing a patterned blazer and has a major side part going on, and Ryan is in a zip-up collared jacket with a pinkish shirt underneath. Channeling fall, sure, but what's the real meaning behind this post?
Internet detectives are theorizing that they're trying to distract from the news that was dropped two days later. On Monday, a seven minute voice memo sent to Lively from Baldoni was released to the public. In it, Baldoni says, "I f*cked up...I'm a very flawed man" and apologizes for how he responded to Blake's scene rewrite suggestion.
A separate leaked voicemail alleges that Baldoni claimed Lively "sent me to the basement" at the film premiere. There's dirt on both sides, supposedly, and Blake wanted to make sure she comes out on top.

Social Media Reactions
Critics across social media are not falling for her ploy, though, and are calling her out on social media for the calculated move. "Let's hear that recording now, why does she need to remind everyone that she's supported?" one person wrote on TikTok at the time. "And that they're together...when were they even last seen together?"
"Sick of their faces," another person said. "I'm waiting for the divorce announcement."
"It's so laughable and predictable at this point," a third said.
"Two smug villains," reads another comment. "Get together to plan and commit a new crime."
"You would think that once everyone knew what you were doing you would change your method," another user said. "Yet they keep going the same thing!"
"2 cruel narcissists," a final person said. "Sure we all want to see a picture of those deceitful monsters—not!"
