5 Chipotle Ordering Mistakes That Are Costing You Money

Chipotle has quickly become everyone’s favorite, freshest fast food chain, norovirus scare and all. With a location on almost any given street corner, Chipotle gives you obscene amounts of food at wonderfully reasonable prices. You leave with a happy wallet and a full stomach for at least an entire day. Unfortunately, for all of us who eat there multiple times a week, they no longer have a rewards program to rack up points or discounts. But, there are a few hacks you can try out to save major cash (that can be used toward even more Chipotle meals, naturally) the next time you head to this Mexican joint.

Buy A Burrito Bowl

To get the most bang (AKA food) for your buck, you need to order a burrito bowl. Sure, burritos and tacos have their perks, but your contents are limited by a tortilla shell. With bowls, the sky’s the limit, and you can order as many toppings as your heart desires until the lid won’t close. Truly take advantage of this opportunity. After all, you’re paying the same price for the bowl no matter how much food you get, so why not just pile it all on? If you really can’t live without a tortilla, ask for one on the side because, little known fact, it’s FREE.

Ask For Extras

Don't be shy when it comes to loading up your bowl or burrito. Not satisfied with the amount of rice they sccoped you? Ask for a tad bit more. Need some more salsa to add extra flavor? Again, ask and you shall receive. All at no extra cost. Besides guacomole, unfortunately.

Ask For A Double-Wrapped Burrito

You're obviously going to take advantage of the previous tip to whatever extent possible and load up on extras, but you definitely want to steer clear of a sad, torn burrito. Again, this is why bowls are waaaay better but, if you're a burrito stickler, we can't blame you. Just ask for a double tortilla wrapped around the burrito. This prevents spillage and gives you another delectable layer to eat through.

Get Half and Half Meat

If you ask for more rice from the get go, Chipotle workers are more likely to add more meat to achieve the perfect meat to rice ratio. BUT, if you want even more protein, ask for half of one meat, say chicken, and half of another, like steak. You'll get two generous spponfuls of whichever meats you choose, all for the price of one.

Download The Chipotle App

The app might not save you any money, but it can knock some time off your busy day. If you download the app, you can easily order your favorite meal instantly and even have it delivered from certain locations. Because picking up food yourself has become so passé. You can also find locations near you because, no matter where you are, the Chipotle craving can hit at any given moment.
