Chrissy Metz has undergone an incredible 100-lb weight loss transformation, which she has previously credited strength training, walking, and eating fewer calories with. And she wants to continue prioritizing her health and fitness!
Earlier this month, the 44-year-old This is Us actress told her 1.9M Instagram followers that she wanted to stay “healthy” and “limber,” and candidly let them know how she felt after taking her first “challenging” yet ‘”meditative” Pilates class.

Chrissy Metz Talks About Her First Ever Pilates Class On Instagram
“I survived my first ever Pilates class,” Metz said in her candid July 3rd Instagram video. “And this was after my sister saying there’s no way I could go by myself, I would be too scared,” she continued.
“And I was,” Metz confirmed, before telling her fans some of her initial fears and hesitations before the first class. “I wasn’t sure what to wear, what to say, what to think, what to do, and had no real idea what to expect aside from like, ‘oh I’ma have to get on this machine that looks difficult.'”
But despite her initial fears, she persevered, and seemed to get the hype of Pilates by the end of her first class! “I got to thankfully be instructed by an amazing woman, and she was very patient and very affirming, and everybody in the class was very nice,” Metz explained, adding: “But I felt so silly because I was like, ‘what spring, what this, what that,’ and turning over and flip flopping like a fish and whatever. And whatever, because the victory is that I did it!”
Metz added: "The victory is that I went, I tried to face fears and then realized like, 'oh this is why people love it.' And it was challenging (and it was a beginner class!) but it was really meditative and calming, especially in the morning. It just felt like, I don't know, it felt really good. And I feel like 'oh now I get it.'"
She then went on to tell fans about what else she is doing to prioritize her health in her forties, adding: "So between that and doing some strength training… as I get in my older age, I wanna stay limber. I wanna stay as healthy as possible and do what's best for my body, my mind, my soul, my spirit."
She concluded: "So anyway, if you're thinking about Pilates, just do it. Even if you fumble through, even if you feel you look awkward, who cares? Nobody is great out of the gate. So anyway, I encourage you to do things you're afraid of that might get you out of your comfort zone, because you just never know what you're gonna like."
