Now is the perfect time to start shopping for a winter coat. All of our favorite brands and retailers are getting into the holiday spirit early, with Black Friday preview sales and price-drops all November long. Even if the weather hasn’t gotten the memo yet, winter is almost here so you should start shopping to find this season’s coat while it’s on sale.

And we’ve found this season’s it-coat already: the long wool coat.

Cropped puffers are out and long coats are in. The winter version of the timeless trench, a long wool coat emits a sophisticated vibe, no matter what you layer it over.

Take this look from style blogger @smythsisters for example: an effortlessly chic look with a turtleneck, Levi's and Converses, elevated by a dark wool coat from Mango.

The long wool coat trend was all over the runways for Fall/Winter 2020 as well. Some designers, like JW Anderson, opted for a classic beige style like the classic trench, finished with a cape for extra drama.

Fendi took a more architectural approach, showcasing a long wool coat with structered statement sleeves and a bold, waist-cinching belt.

Blogger @eniswardrobe found a coat that brings together the classic beige coloring with an architectural shape. Her long, wrap coat by L.K. Bennett stands out on its own, adding a sophisticated touch to her long skirt and two-tone ankle boots.
