If crow’s feet and under-eye wrinkles are becoming a concern, you’re not alone—and you don’t need to turn to injectables to fight them. According to skincare expert and esthetician Chris Gibson, there are several natural, affordable ways to stimulate collagen production around the eyes and improve elasticity over time.

“Yes, you can absolutely stimulate collagen around and under the eyes naturally without having to use Botox or fillers,” Gibson says in a recent video shared with his audience of over 34 years in the skincare space.

As we age, the delicate skin around our eyes—already thinner than the rest of the face—loses both volume and elasticity due to declining collagen levels. This can lead to fine lines, wrinkles, and a “crinkled” appearance that many want to avoid. Gibson emphasizes that addressing hydration and using collagen-supportive ingredients is key.

1. Hydration First

“One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to help your skin—and your collagen—is by drinking more water,” Gibson explains. “When you’re dehydrated, your body prioritizes essential organs like the heart and lungs, pulling water away from the skin.”

Staying hydrated ensures that the amino acids needed for collagen production can function properly, making it a no-cost, high-impact step in your skincare routine.

2. Collagen Supplements, Especially With Vitamin E

Gibson is a fan of collagen peptide powders, noting they helped improve his own skin after just eight weeks. “I use Vital Proteins collagen peptides in my tea, but there are also vegan and pill forms,” he says. To make collagen supplements even more effective, he recommends pairing them with vitamin E, either through food or supplements.

“Adding just 10 milligrams of vitamin E to your diet can really boost the effects much faster,” he adds. Great sources include leafy greens, avocados, olives, and nuts like almonds.

3. Add Vitamin C—Topically and Through Diet

Vitamin C is another crucial ingredient that works synergistically with collagen. “It’s a powerful antioxidant and can be found in citrus, leafy greens, and dairy—and of course in serums,” says Gibson.

4. Use the Right Retinol Eye Creams

Topical products can also make a big difference, but Gibson warns against using high-strength retinoids not meant for the delicate eye area. Instead, he recommends tried-and-true eye creams with retinol, such as:

  • Dr. Dennis Gross Retinol Eye Cream (with ferulic acid for extra power)
  • Olay Eyes Pro Retinol Serum (a budget-friendly drugstore alternative)
  • Neutrogena Rapid Repair Eye Cream (great results at a lower price point)
  • La Roche-Posay Retinol Eye Cream (ideal for sensitive skin)
  • Alpyn Beauty PlantGenius Eye Balm (a retinol-free option)

5. Copper Peptides

For those who can’t tolerate retinol, copper peptides offer a gentle alternative. “They work wonders on the very fine lines under the eyes, and you can use them in the morning while saving retinol for nighttime,” Gibson advises. Just don’t use them together—space out your treatments for the best results.

6. Professional Treatments (If You’re Ready)

Gibson also mentions in-office options like the 2D facial, which combines IPL and laser resurfacing. While highly effective, he notes these can be pricey and aren’t for everyone. “Make sure you do your homework,” he cautions. “Find a licensed pro who will tell you honestly if a treatment is right for you.”

Ultimately, if you’re committed to consistency and mindful skincare, natural collagen boosting around the eyes is very possible—no needles required.

“Stay beautiful, and remember—you don’t have to break the bank or freeze your face to look your best,” Gibson says.
