Now that he’s moved back into the White House, Donald Trump has been busy redecorating, though we’re not quite sure what style he’s going for. For the most part, it looks like the 78-year-old is simply “gold-ifying” the Oval Office, adding multiple frames and appliqués throughout the White House. Keep reading for more information.

Donald Trump Redecorates

The Wall Street Journal actually revealed that Trump flew in cabinetmaker John Icart, who he's worked with before for projects at Mar-a-Lago, to add gold finishes throughout the White House. Icart, who is referred to as Trump's "gold guy," added golden borders to Trump and JD Vance's portraits, gilded carvings for the mantel, a gold Trump crest, and gold coasters, among other things, to just the oval office alone.

Trump also reportedly brought gold cherubs from his Mar-a-Lago home as well, which Trump addressed in a March interview with Fox News. "They're gold, all gold. It's angels. They say angels bring good luck and we need a lot of luck in this country with what they've done over the last four years."

Social Media Reactions

Users online are less than impressed with Trump's decor choices, comparing the room to its past state during Obama and Biden's presidencies, where the walls are simply adorned with framed photos and the mantle holds a few potted plants.

"That's Trump..." one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "Cheap, gaudy, tacky, and tasteless."

"He stuck plastic garbage all over the Oval Office," another person pointed out, attaching a links to Home Depot's website where you can purchase similar wall decor for less than $50.

"Wow. Trump doesn't understand or appreciate the classic simplicity of the traditional American colonial architecture of the White House," one user said. "He has to put up cheap plastic toys to pretend he is in Versailles."
