Since his inauguration in January, Donald Trump has taken the liberty of redo-ing and redecorating the White House to his liking, including moving presidential portraits to off-limits areas and demolishing the entire East Wing. His latest move? Creating a presidential “Walk of Fame,” which includes portraits of past presidents and bronze plaques beneath each one. This seems like a great idea at face value, however the president has filled the plaques beneath the former democratic presidents with misleading or false information. Keep reading for more information.

New 'Disrespectful' White House Plaques

Beginning with the most recent democratic president, Donald Trump has used a photograph of an autopen instead of a portrait for Joe Biden. Trump has claimed that Biden's use of an autopen invalidates his pardons, which is incorrect. His plaque describes Biden as taking office "as a result of the most corrupt Election ever seen in the United States." This is also incorrect. Several former federal judges previously investigated Trump's claims and found no evidence pointing towards invalid election results.

Barack Obama's plaque states that he was "one of the most divisive political figures in American History." In reality, Obama's retrospective favorability rating in 2025 is the highest of any of the past five presidents. His plaque also says that he "spied on the 2016 Presidential Campaign of Donald J. Trump," however multiple investigations found no political influence over the FBI investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Social Media Reactions

The Trump administration's claims are dangerous instances of spreading misinformation by what is supposed to be a trusted source. Users across social media have expressed their outrage over this move, writing on X, formerly Twitter, calling Trump "petty" and "disrespectful."

"How does a toddler end up running the highest office in the country?" one person asked.

"How is this allowed. My god," another user wrote. "Aren't you all embarrassed?!?!"

"This is childish, shameful, and beneath the dignity of the office," another agreed.

"He will never be taken seriously or get the positive press he so desperately wants by doing this line this," one comment reads. "Such a small man."

"When will this nightmare end?" a final user wrote.
