It’s time to do a little spring cleaning in your closet! We’re in full swing to revamp our wardrobes for the next season–the first day of spring is just a week away, after all. Nothing can stop us from building the wardrobe of our dreams–except that dress from last spring (or worse, five springs ago), hiding in the back of our closet that is so out of style.
We all do it–we hoard clothes far past their expiration date, making the mistake of wearing trends that are completely dead. It’s a harmless mistake, except for the fact that it makes you look like you have no idea what’s going on in the fashion world–and no one wants that.
For spring 2018, a whole new set of trends have taken off and spread like wildfire, pushing out outdated trends from 2017 and earlier. Dresses are super popular for the upcoming warm weather months, like always, but two dress trends are completely over–for good. If you own one (or both) of these dress styles, you’re going to want to get rid of them ASAP.
These are two dress trends that no one will be wearing in 2018.
1) Corset Bodycon Dresses
Unless you are going to a club, going to Vegas, or are Kim Kardashian, you should retire your corset bodycon dress. No, you’re not going to suddenly need it for some sort of imaginary occasion, and no, it’s definitely not going to come back in style. The dress is uncomfortable and unflattering. Honestly, even Kim Kardashian has stopped wearing these over the top, super tight, corset bodycon dresses--so you definitely should too.

2) Tiered Prairie Dresses
A tiered prairie dress is the total opposite of a corset bodycon dress, but they have one thing in common: they’re both trends that are on their way out. Unless you are trying to look like you're stuck in the early 1900s or actually live in the prairies, you should probably retire this dress trend. A while ago, this dress style was very popular but it’s clear that is no longer the case. Let it go--your wardrobe will thank you.
Donate these two outdated dress styles and make room in your closet for spring’s latest trends! Shop for a new replacement dress below. These fresh styles will quickly make you forget all about those old dresses.

Fraiche By J Plunging Jersey Minidress ($58.80, originally $98)
This sexy mini dress is the perfect alternative to the corset bodycon dress. It proves you don't need an uncomfortably tight bodycon to look great for a night out.
Topshop Cowl Neck Satin Midi Dress ($68)
This cleanly styled slipdress topped with a slouchy cowl neck and finished with split sides is '90s minimalism at its finest. Even though it covers you more than a corset bodycon dress, it's just as sexy.
Soprano Tie Front Midi Dress ($32.98, originally $55)
This floral-print dress, topped with a sweet little bow, is the perfect alternative to a prairie dress. It can be worn to all of your outdoor spring events this season, from family parties to dates.
Everly Ruffle Wrap Maxi Dress ($59)
This sweet maxi dress features a ruffled neckline and a curved front slit that shows off your legs a little bit. It's just as darling as a prairie dress--but way cuter.
