One of those stars was former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, who has been living in England over the last year since leaving the United States with her wife, Portia de Rossi. The Ellen DeGeneres Show star decided to give her friend Kris a birthday tribute on Instagram, and it was in the form of sharing an old video of them.
In the video, Kris can be seen fast asleep on a living room couch as Ellen sings along to the popular song “Leave The Door Open” in her ear until she wakes up in shock.
“Happy birthday, Kris,” Ellen captioned her post. “I wish I could wake you up like this every day.”

Although the two television personalities had a big laugh in the video, and it gained a lot of attention on social media, not all of the comments were the nicest.
Ellen's career took a turn in 2021 and 2022, when her record-breaking talk show was canceled after there were allegations and reports of a toxic workplace environment. Since then, many social media users have been extra critical of her, and it showed in the comments under her post for Kris.
