Gabourey Sidibe Flaunts Her Weight Loss In A Red Dress On The Red Carpet
The 42-year-old actress has been through a lot over the last five years, as not only has she continued making progress in her weight loss journey, but she also got married, had twins, and got to take a turn behind the camera.
After directing a short film in 2017, she's taking things to the next level, directing a movie based on the life of famous singer Mary J. Blige, Be Happy, which she celebrated at a recent Lifetime red carpet event, Love Of A Lifetime. She attended the event earlier this week in a fiery red dress, which elegantly draped across her frame. She paired the dress with some gold statement jewelry, and her long, black hair was worn down in curls.
Fans praised her outfit on social media platforms like Instagram, saying she looks "amazing," especially since her red carpet look allowed her to show off her more petite frame. Gabourey has reportedly lost around 150 pounds since undergoing bariatric surgery in 2016.
Gabourey Says Becoming A Mother To Twins Has Been Her 'Favorite Stage' Of Life
Since starting to lose weight following her surgery, which she combined with healthier eating, exercise, and stress management, the award-nominated actress's life has changed.
"My lifelong relationship with food had to change," she wrote in her memoir, This Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare. "The surgery wasn't the easy way out. I wasn't cheating by getting it done. I wouldn't have been able to lose as much as I've lost without it."
In 2021, she married her boyfriend, Brandon Frankel, and three years later, they welcomed twins into the world, a boy, Cooper, and a girl, Maya. Now, she's a working mom, taking full advantage of what life has to offer her after taking good care of herself and focusing on what makes her happy.
Gabourey wrote in the caption of a recent Instagram post, regarding her busy family, that she was "all around exhausted."
"But this is my favorite stage so far," she added.
