There are plenty of healthy ways to lose weight and reduce inflammation in your body. A good place to start is always with a healthy diet and exercise, but in addition to eating better and moving daily, experts say that changing what you drink has also proven effective.

The right drink can help rev your metabolism and give your weight loss efforts a little boost. Tea is arguably one of the best drinks there are for weight loss because of it’s packed with nutrients and minerals that our bodies need not only while dieting, but just in everyday life.

There are a wide variety of teas available on the market that can reduce inflammation, but green tea is by far the best.

"Green tea makes for an excellent beverage alternative if you're trying to lose weight," explains New York-based nutritionist Regina Fazzini. "It's loaded with healthy antioxidants that have been proven to help decrease body weight and fat when combined with healthy lifestyle changes."

The antioxidants in green tea are catechins and they have been found to improve metabolic function. This helps increase your energy levels and the rate your body burns calories and fat.

According to Healthline, a study found that people who consumed green tea extract for 12 weeks experienced significant decreases in body weight, body fat, and waist circumference, compared to a control group.

This is also the case for matcha -- the new trendy green drink you’re seeing all of social media -- which is a highly concentrated type of powdered green tea. It contains the same beneficial ingredients as regular green tea.
