Though Hillary Clinton’s name has been out of headlines for the most part, a recent interview with MSNBC has earned her quite a bit of backlash. After expressing her disapproval with Christian conservatism, saying it promotes division, many devout Christians have come for her neck. Keep reading for more information.

Hillary Clinton Slammed Over Interview

In an interview on Morning Joe, the former first lady told hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, “You know, I love my country, and I love it, you know—warts and all. And I’m proud of the fact that we have always been a work in progress. You know, we haven’t gotten to the more perfect union.”

She continued, saying that the first amendment that provides freedom of speech and freedom to protest is what “makes us so special as a country.” Scarborough then made comments about the history of America and how its persisted through slavery and through the Civil War.

“The idea that you could turn the clock back and try to recreate a world that never was dominated by—you know, let’s say it—white men of a certain persuasion, a certain religion, a certain point of view, a certain ideology—it’s just doing such damage to what we should be aiming for,” Clinton said.

Social Media Reactions

Conservatives on social media, though, seem to have missed her point. "Hillary is spreading hate and division as usual," one person wrote on Instagram. "The damage she does every time she opens her mouth is more worrisome."

"She is hard to watch," agreed another.

Others, though, recognized her efforts to bridge the divide between parties. "So refreshing to hear an adult, articulate conversation unlike the driveling, monosyllabic nincompoop we have currently minding the store," one person wrote in a YouTube comment.

"Thank goodness for Hillary Clinton," said another. "A voice of actual knowledge."

"Intelligence, thoughtfulness, articulation—a breath of fresh air," added a third.

"Great job MSNBC," a final fan posted. "Listening and learning from Hillary Clinton is a treat."
