Hold Up–People Can Now Record Your Snapchats With This New IOS 11 Feature

September 21, 2017 by Samantha Peters

Have you ever sent an embarrassing video to your friend only because you know it will disappear into oblivion after five seconds? Yeah, us too. Well, it looks like we need to be extra careful when posting to social media, because our friends can record our "not so cute" moments for all the world to see. That's right - that footage of you with the double chin can now live on FOREVER.

The new iOS 11 update that launched earlier this week includes a feature that allows users to record what they're seeing on screen. According to Mashable, people can access the screen sharing feature by adding it to their Control Center then swiping up to start recording. This feature also applies to people sending instant messages through Instagram.

People have noted, however, that when someone records your snap, you'll be be notified that that person took a screenshot. So at least you'll know if someone is "up to no good." The same cannot be said yet for direct messages on Instagram.

Snapchat is reportedly trying to fix the issue with its latest iOS update. Still, the fully updated app may not be able to detect someone recording your snaps if that person still has the old Snapchat version.

All in all, it's important to remember that one way or another, whatever you post can always be saved. So send wisely!
