The NYTimes says that Ugg boots have “returned,” although for many of us they never really left.
In their article last week the paper named some key fashion week collabs (Y/Project, Jeremy Scott, Phillip Lim) as the reason for the beloved sheepskin shoe making a big comeback.
I’m a fashion editor and I will say that Uggs are higher on my Christmas wish list than they ever have been. Thanks to work-from-home (and eat-from-home, and play-from-home) cozier shoe options are a must, and as we face a Covid Winter where any socializing or activities I *might* be able to partake in will certainly be outdoors, I can’t think of any other footwear I’d rather wear. They are the warmest, most comfortable boots–bar none.

Plus, thanks to some key off-duty model looks (from brand ambassadors Emily Ratajkowski, Joan Smalls, Irina Shayk and Jasmine Tookes) I am more confident than ever that I can make them look well-styled. Yes, I am an influencer being influenced by influencers!
So, the style that I am craving more than any other is the Classic Short Mini II. For me, it will be a tri-season shoe. I'll wear them now in the frosty temps, but also in the transitional fall and spring seasons. They seem dantier than the mid-calf Uggs--and they are the ones that Ratajkowski, Smalls, Shayk and Tookes all wore.

The close second for me is this Classic Weather Hiker. A beauty editor friend of mine at another publication recently admitted that she ordered the boots in hush with a friend in the Hamptons. "We both looked at each other like--I've NEVER ordered Uggs before. It's our little secret," she admitted to me. I think she chose a pretty good first pair--they don't look like your typical Uggs, so her secret may be totally safe.

The third pair I'm eyeing (mostly because I saw them on a friend) are the very warm Sunburst Tall. The style has a sturdy sold, and an outside shearling detail that proudly yells to the world "I'm Uggs!"--and in the chicest way possible.
