Are Catherine Zeta-Jones And Michael Douglas Boycotting CNN?
After the debate, there were rumors that Dylan's famous parents were "fuming" and would be boycotting CNN over how their son was treated. Rob Shuter claimed on Substack that they were "full-on, 'never again, blacklist the whole network' levels of furious."
Jennings also touched on the rumor, telling McCain: "I kind of feel bad for him in that his parents are out complaining about it. I never saw Dylan complaining about it. But now in the gossip rags, his parents are out complaining about it. I don't know." Check out a video of the exchange here.
He went on: "To me, I think Dylan was probably okay with how everything went, but when your parents jump out there in the public domain and complain on your behalf, it makes you look pretty weak." However, these boycotting rumors have been shut down…
"The rumor that Catherine and Michael are boycotting CNN is news to them. They support accurate reporting, which this rumor isn't," Zeta-Jones' rep told Entertainment Weekly. Douglas' rep echoed this, and went on to say that the Basic Instinct actor has "no problem with going on or watching CNN."
Since the debate, Dylan has dismissed some of the headlines as "fake news," and Scott has offered a light-hearted apology. As per the Daily Beast, Scott said he would be willing to apologize to the Oscar-winning actress "personally… over a nice seafood dinner" if she wants to take him up on it. We are amused!
Social Media Reactions
This hasn't stopped social media from commenting on Dylan being "destroyed," to quote an X user, by Scott last month, or indeed the boycotting rumors. And they didn't hold back!
"His parents being mad at Scott and CNN is the most ridiculous thing. Nepo brat Dylan should stay ensconced in his parents' penthouse so he won't have to face anything so unpleasant ever again," commented one X user.
"HAHAHA: Michael Douglas BLACKBALLING CNN after Scott Jennings humiliated his snot-nosed son," wrote a second, in reference to the rumors, as a third said: "Give the kid something he can sell. Doomed before he started. Not Jennings' responsibility."
"God forbid they would be upset at their Nepo baby," quipped a fourth, as a fifth chimed in: "He was so out of his league. But that's what these little snotters do. They have never had anything they assert challenged and when they finally do, they fall apart like cheap 1 ply toilet paper."
"Poor baby Dylan," joked a sixth, followed by several crying laughing emojis. "Dylan had a privileged life. He doesn't have a clue what real people are facing. Smug little rich snot," slammed a seventh, as an eighth said: "The audacity of him to pretend like he understands issues."
A ninth added: "A nepo baby going against someone who got there on merit is always going to be a delightful squishing. Parents be warned."
