Being pregnant is no joke. For every day for nearly a year, getting dressed is a struggle. That’s 3-4 seasons of your regular clothes not fitting. Your favorite jeans–don’t fit. You’re favorite dresses–no dice. Even the shoes become an issue! You basically have to buy all new everything but, of course, you don’t want to spend a fortune because you won’t be able to wear most of it again. Womp.

I’m seven months pregnant with my second child, and am knee deep in this right now. At this point, I’ve exhausted most of my style options–I rent maternity clothes from Le Tote (highly recommend it!), I’ve splurged on designer maternity jeans that don’t slip (the cheap ones do), and even borrowed some of my husband’s shirts in a pinch. Like those cravings for wine and sushi, there just comes a point where you wish you could just feel normal. And this is where I found Isabella Oliver (praying hands emoji).

How it all happened: I was style stalking Instagram–per usual–when I came across a post from mommy blogger Kathleen Kelly Hurley of Let’s Be Mom Friends in this adorable swing nautical striped top. The gist of her post was how she wears her favorite maternity top post-partum. The top didn’t have the unflattering empire waist that is so common in maternity wear. It just had a little extra material around the mid section, giving it a little swing. Genius. It did not scream, “I’m a big fat pregnant lady,” but instead, it was more like–“Look how cute my mom bod is.”  I was intrigued:

The brand agreed to send me a top for this review, in fact, I asked for the exact Caia top that the blogger had worn, which also happens to be a bestseller. On the day I received the package, I was not feeling my best. The weather was getting warmer in New York, which is usually a dream after a long, icy winter, but it was only bringing up new feelings of dread because I have absolutely no spring maternity clothes. I was also dealing with acid reflux and other joyful side effects of pregnancy. To say that the Caia top made my day would be an understatement. I was beyond thrilled when I pulled the top on and discovered that I did *not* look like an extremely pregnant lady, but instead I looked like myself again. I would wear boat neck tops all the time in spring (with cuffed jeans, light booties and a statement necklace). And I could finally do it again. It was a miracle!

The quality was also great. The shirt was soft and lightweight. It’s already held up to several washes (yep, that’s right–I’m wearing it on repeat). I fully plan on wearing this after the baby comes, too.

And now I’ve noticed that a lot of other style bloggers are fans, too, especially of their tank dresses and striped tees:

So cute, right? If you’re a mama to be, I absolutely recommend trying one or two pieces of the brand–especially if you’re in a pregnancy style slump like I was!
