Jelly Roll Participates In A Celebrity-Run 5K Race

On Tuesday, May 6th, the country star participated in a 5K race led by comedians Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura. The '2 Bears 5K' was hosted as part of the Netflix Is A Joke comedy special and was untimed, giving off a more casual and fun time than some other 5K races. This is one of many ventures the "Son Of A Sinner" singer has taken on during his astonishing weight loss journey, as on top of training and eating better, he's taken on new challenges to hold himself accountable and shred even more pounds.

At the end of the race, the musician, whose full name is Jason Bradley DeFord, made a heartfelt speech about the event and how it inspired him to stay motivated in his mission to get healthier, as when the first 2 Bears race was held a year prior, he was 470 pounds and wanted to run it. He called it a 5K "for the outcasts and the underdogs," recalling how it was full of fun sights and activities besides running.

"I showed up at 340 pounds today," he said on stage after the race.

"We're always about what we're fixin' to do. I'm gonna lose another hundred pounds [and] I'm gonna do this in 35 minutes flat next year in May, baby."

He then made a joke about how since he's gonna be in much better shape during the race next year, he'll stand on the stage at the end of the race and take off his shirt to reveal his slimmed-down figure.

Jelly Roll Has Lost Almost 200 Lbs Over The Last 3 Years

Earlier this year, during a live event with podcaster Pat McAfee, the musician revealed he had started his weight loss journey weighing over 500 pounds and had lost a total of 183, later telling Jimmy Kimmel in an interview that he was "approaching the 200-pound mark."

Besides running a 5K and continuing to improve his athleticism, the dad of two has many goals for when he loses an additional 100 pounds, like skydiving with his wife, Bunnie XO, bull riding, and more. When pictures and videos of Jelly Roll running and making his speech at the fun event were shared on social media, his fans cheered him on, as many of them have been doing since he first started making progress.

"You're looking great!" wrote a fan under an Instagram reel of his speech at the 5K.

"You go, Jelly," added another.

"You are doing amazing work at your weight loss!" commented a fan.

"Keep going, Jelly."

"Proud of you, Jason," wrote a user. "Such an inspiration."

We are excited to see what the "Save Me" vocalist decides to do once he's officially lost over 200 pounds, and it's clear that his fanbase will have his side as he continues to make more progress.
