Kate Middleton delighted fans when she attended Trooping the Color on Saturday, June 14th (pictured below,) and the annual Order of the Garter service on Monday, June 16th, as it was proof that she was getting back to her public duties after a tough battle with cancer last year.
However, the Princess of Wales also left fans concerned and disappointed when she pulled out of attending Royal Ascot at the last moment without providing an explanation, as they feared that she may have overdone it at the aforementioned events.
Kate Middleton's Last-Minute Ascot Cancellation Proves She Is Returning To Public Duties At Her Own Pace
Ascot officials claimed at 12pm on Wednesday, June 18th that the Princess of Wales was expected to be in the second carriage with husband Prince William, professional golfer, Justin Rose, and his wife, Kate Phillips, during the carriage procession. However, less than a half hour later, Kensington Palace confirmed that she would not be attending. The last time she attended the event was in 2023, wearing a stunning red Alexander McQueen outfit, pictured below.
An insider claimed earlier this year that the mom-of-three would slowly be easing herself back into her public duties since revealing that her cancer is in remission, but at the same time, they suspected that she would be doing it at her own pace and wouldn't return at full capacity for quite a while. If ever!
Another royal expert weighed in on the Princess of Wales' Ascot absence, and suggested that she is, quite rightly, doing what is best for herself and her health. "She's being sensible, listening to what her body is telling her and easing back into public life," Ailsa Anderson, Queen Elizabeth's former spokeswoman, told People.

Fan Comments
As expected, royal fans have been both concerned and supportive about her decision to skip the event. "I hope that she's okay," wrote one fan on Instagram. "Be well, Princess. A lot of appearances in a short time," observed a second, followed by the red heart emoji.
"She probably needs a break. Sometimes it's best to take a day of rest," noted a third. "Healthy boundaries is taking care of herself," commented a fourth, as a fifth concurred: "Good for you Kate! Self care." "Wishing her a full recovery," added a sixth fan.

Kate Middleton Shares A Touching Message After Royal Ascot
The Princess of Wales did touch base with her fans after the Royal Ascot on Friday, June 20th, and shared a touching message to praise children's hospices. The Patron of East Anglia's Children's Hospices and Tŷ Hafan Children's Hospice in South Wales referenced how hospices "lift the spirits" of seriously ill children in her message, and praised how they support children and their families through "life, death and beyond."
The Princess of Wales wrote: "No parent expects to hear that their child has a serious health condition that could shorten their life. Sadly, this is the reality faced by thousands of families across the country, leaving them heartbroken, fearful of the future and often desperately isolated. Being able to access the support of one of the U.K.'s 54 children's hospices means they don't have to face that future alone."
"I have the immense privilege of seeing for myself the extraordinary work of our children's hospices. Lifting spirits through laughter, fun and play, as well as listening, holding, caring and sharing, they support children and families through life, death and beyond," she continued.
"This Children's Hospice Week," the Princess of Wales concluded, "I hope you will join me in celebrating the life-changing work they do and thanking them for the vital care they provide to children and families experiencing the most challenging times."
